Situated on a gently rolling peninsula surrounded by the shores of Lake Merced in San Francisco’s southwestern corner, Harding Park Golf Course has reclaimed its stature as one of the great public golfing experiences in the United States. Beginning in the spring of 2002, an extensive improvement process was undertaken to restore Harding’s famed layout to world-class standards.

Harding’s restoration has been a continuing focus of golf industry attention, and the improvements were completed on the basis of returning a PGA Tour event to its storied grounds. Harding Park recently played host to the 2005 World Golf Championship. The event, contested during the dates of October 6 – 9, 2005, featured Tiger Woods defeating John Daly on the second playoff hole to capture the Championship title. For Woods, it marks his sixth TOUR victory of 2005. Proceeds from the event benefited the First Tee Chapter of San Francisco, a non-profit organization that provides inner-city youth the opportunity to learn the game of golf and life skills through its educational program.

Harding Park’s new clubhouse opened to the public in July 2005. The Clubhouse has a full service golf shop, restaurant, and banquet facilities; and is available for weddings and special events.
